Snow Removal: Week Two
I thought I would pick the latest day of snowfall to look back at last week's failures.
On Friday, I left for work at 7am with no plows in sight. Things didn't get better, either. Rome schools had to close, using up the last allotted snow day before the middle of December. There was also the accident on Elmer Hill Road, that went from Oneida County DPW control to the City of Rome.
I'm worried that the city has bit off more than it can chew with road clearing. We've reached three days of heavy snowfall, and the DPW hasn't gotten its act together. It doesn't matter if the drivers come in at 4am. If it takes that long to plow, they need to get in at midnight to clear the roads by 7.
