Rome School Budget Over a Half Million Dollars in Debt

I thought I would put today's news into perspective. Since the budget was passed by April 1st for the first time in over two decades, school funding can be factored in instead of anticipated. While this figure may change slightly by the time it is signed, Rome can now be faced with the fact that there is no magical aid package that will make up the deficit.

It is the school board's obligation to cut the other $600,000 from this budget. Frankly, they should take out a chunck of that $1 million they're planning on sticking homeowners with. Let's all remember the school board meeting on Wednesday at Ridge Mills. The one I couldn't find mentioned in the paper.
