More Cuts ... Maybe

The Rome School Board intends to pass a budget with $1 million + deficit May 17. There will be cuts in non-participation sports along with firing custodians and energy saving measures. There is also the possible elimination of 73 teaching postions at a savings of $4.2 million. If you do the math, each teacher costs the school district over $57,000. Remember that the next time a local teacher complains about their low pay.

By the way - school board budget meeting Wednesday at Strough - 7pm.

Budget vote - May 17
